About the Brand

Born from a passion for craft, Lineage was started in 2016 by Paul Hansbarger in Harrisonburg, Virginia. In 2018, they opened a brick and mortar location in downtown Harrisonburg and in 2021, they opened a second retail location in Richmond.

Lineage began with a simple request from Paul's then pregnant wife Jessica for a diaper bag for their soon to be born daughter. Since then, more designs have come together, constantly refining and redesigning, while family and friends have asked for a bag of their own. The idea behind Lineage was to create simple, stylish, and durable, heirloom quality bags and accessories for utility and everyday use. Since the beginning they set out to create useful, elegant products with the best materials possible, cut and sewn by hand, and ultimately, that could stand the rigors of everyday life and be passed down for generations.

Lineage bags, accessories, and candles are made by hand in their Richmond, Virginia studio.
